August 2002 (Newstream) -- For the fifth time as part of its Save Lids to Save Lives® program, Yoplait® is encouraging yogurt-lovers to help raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation by saving the special pink lids from Yoplait's yogurt cups. For every special pink lid sent in by consumers between September 1 and December 31, 2002, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to the Komen Foundation, up to $750,000.

This year, Yoplait is upping the ante on the contribution that consumers can help raise by increasing the maximum donation from $500,000 to $750,000 -- and challenging consumers to help reach that goal by collecting 7.5 million lids. Yoplait is also committed to an additional guaranteed contribution of $750,000, for a total possible donation of $1.5 million.

In September and October, special pink lids will be on all Yoplait Original Style, Light Style, Custard Style, Whips!, and Original and Light Variety Pack yogurt products. Consumers can send in these lids to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. Yoplait will also donate 80 cents for each coupon from the Expresse® box mailed in by the deadline.

Additionally, consumers can participate in Yoplait's Online Team Challenge by organizing lid collection teams in their community, and they can track lid redemptions of teams from around the country on www.YoplaitUSA.com.

As an effort to help raise even more money for the cause, Yoplait has enlisted a team of celebrity designers, including Emme and Betsey Johnson, to create one-of-a-kind hats ("lids.") Consumers will have the opportunity to bid on these "lids" in an eBay auction from September 27 through October 7. All proceeds will support the Komen Foundation's mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment.

For more than 15 years, Yoplait has been committed to raising awareness of women's health issues, including breast cancer, heart health, osteoporosis prevention, and fitness. With the attainment of this year's goals and the fulfillment of this year's commitment, Yoplait, its parent company General Mills and its Foundation will have donated over $10 million to the breast cancer cause over the past five years.
